Iran–Venezuela relations, having strengthened in recent years, were regarded as "friendly", according to former Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The two countries are contemporary strategic allies of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China while opposing U.S. hegemony in their respective regions.
