As of 1988, the company is a wholly owned subsidiary of L'Oréal Group S.A.. Before being completely owned by L'Oréal, it was jointly owned by both L'Oréal and Albi International. Other notable former owners are Colgate-Palmolive and Lehman Brothers, the latter of which owned the American branch of the company.
