The calcaneus (/kælˈkeɪniəs/; from the Latin calcaneus or calcaneum, meaning heel; pl.: calcanei or calcanea) or heel bone is a bone of the tarsus of the foot which constitutes the heel. In some animals, it is the point of the hock.
