The Government Actuary's Department (GAD) is a non-ministerial department in the UK Civil Service that provides actuarial advice and analysis for the UK government and other public sector bodies.
Established in 1919, it works with government departments, devolved administrations and local authorities on long-term financial risks and policy issues. The department is headed by the Government Actuary.
