Gezira State canal killings (2024–2025)

The Gezira State canal killings (2024–2025) were several attacks in Gezira, Sudan, aimed at civilians during the Sudanese civil war. A large number of bodies were discovered in irrigation canals and mass graves, mainly around and in Wad Madani. According to reports and investigations during late 2024 and early 2025, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied militias committed systematic killings, forced disappearances, and the dumping of bodies into waterways. The victims were mainly civilians, and the large Kanabi communities were deeply affected.
