George Tapatula Chaponda (born 1 November 1942) is a Malawian diplomat and politician who served as a minister in the Cabinet of Malawi between 2004 and 2017, and who has served as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Malawi since 2024. He is a founding member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and is a DPP Member of Parliament from Mulanje district in southern Malawi. He is currently the incumbent Minister of Foreign Affairs.
