George Barstow (June 19, 1812 – September 9, 1883) was a professor, lawyer, historian, and politician who served in the California State Assembly in the 1860s and 1870s. He was elected Speaker of the Assembly in 1862, becoming the first Republican to hold the post. He briefly left the legislature but returned in 1877, this time as a Democrat.
