Francis Rynd (1801 – 19 July 1861) was an Irish physician known for inventing the hypodermic needle used in syringes in 1844, which also led to the first recorded injection. It was one of the major inventions of drug administration. He was also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
