The Finnish Air Force (FAF or FiAF; Finnish: Ilmavoimat, lit. 'Air forces' [ˈilmɑˌʋoi̯mɑt]; Swedish: Flygvapnet, lit. 'Air arm') is the aerial warfare branch of the Finnish Defence Forces. Its primary peacetime tasks include airspace surveillance, identification and interception missions, and maintaining operational readiness for wartime operations. The Finnish Air Force was founded on 6 March 1918.
