On 6 February 2004, at 06:05:02 WIT (21:05 UTC on 5 February), a Mw 7.0 earthquake struck Nabire Regency, then located in Papua Province, Indonesia. It served as a foreshock to a larger event the following day, measuring Mw 7.3. At least 37 people were killed and were 682 injured, and over 2,700 buildings were damaged or destroyed.
