Ernst Schäfer (German pronunciation: [ˈɛʁnst ˈʃɛːfɐ]; 14 March 1910 – 21 July 1992) was a German explorer, hunter and zoologist in the 1930s, specializing in ornithology. He was also a member of Nazi Germany's racist pseudoscientific Ahnenerbe organization, and held the rank of an SS-Sturmbannführer.
