El Arenal is a town and municipality in the state of Jalisco in central-western Mexico. El Arenal is known as the gateway to the so-called "blue agave" region in the Jaliscan Highlands (Los Altos de Jalisco). The municipality has an area of approximately 111.8 square kilometres (43.2 mi2).
As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 13,574.
