Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval
EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval) is the electronic filing and retrieval system operated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It automates the collection, validation, indexing, acceptance, and forwarding of submissions from companies and other entities that are required by law to file forms with the SEC.
EDGAR also provides the public free online access to corporate filings and other disclosure documents submitted to the SEC, allowing users to research a public company's finances and operations.
