Doctor of Nursing Practice

A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a professional doctorate in nursing offered in the United States.

The DNP degree was first offered by the University of Kentucky College of Nursing in 2001. It was officially endorsed in 2004 as a practice-focused doctoral degree by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, recommending transitioning advanced practice nursing preparation from the master's level to the DNP degree by 2015.

In August 2025, the degree was introduced to Singapore by the National University of Singapore.
