Cultural repression in Tibet

The use of the term "cultural genocide" has been used in reference to the situation in Tibet since at least the 1980s. Its first recorded use in the Tibetan context appears to be a statement by French criminal lawyer and former Justice Minister (1981–1986) Robert Badinter, who made the remark while appearing with the Dalai Lama on the French television program Apostrophes.
