Crime in Panama

Crime in Panama is investigated by the Panamanian police. In 2024 there were approximately 581 homicides, up from 556 in 2023 (a 4.4% increase). The homicide rate was about 12.9 per 100,000 inhabitants, rising from 11.5 the year prior. A decade prior, the homicide rate was 15 per 100,000 inhabitants. The most common crimes in Pamana are domestic violence, with over 21,000 registered cases; and theft, with nearly 17,000 registered cases.
