Corruption in Ukraine is a significant issue affecting society, rooted in the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. After declaring independence, Ukraine faced a series of politicians from across the political spectrum, as well as criminal bosses and oligarchs, who exploited corruption within the police, political parties, and industry to gain power.
