Congenital hearing loss

Congenital hearing loss is a hearing loss present at birth. It can include hereditary hearing loss or hearing loss due to other factors present either during pregnancy (prenatal) or at the time of birth. Congenital hearing loss is relatively common among children, with studies showing that for every 1,000 babies born, anywhere between half a case and six cases can occur around the world.
