The Commission for the Determination of Place Names (Polish: Komisja Ustalania Nazw Miejscowości) was a body under the Department of Public Administration, established in January 1946 by the Polish government. It was tasked with assigning Polish or Slavic based toponyms to places such as villages, towns and cities that had borne German names for centuries in the former eastern territories of Germany, referred to in Poland as the Regained Territories. The commission concluded its work and was formally dissolved in 1960.
