Claude Giroux (producer)
Claude Giroux (1 April 1928 - 2025 ) was a Canadian entrepreneur and film producer.
He was born in Montreal and worked as an entrepreneur in a variety of businesses including trading stamps and groceries. He was managed of the pharmaceutical company D. Kaltman. In the 1950s he invested in several Broadway productions and ran a broadway house, Grammercy Arts Playhouse.
In February 1962 Giroux and Kaltman bought 10% of stock in Allied Artists from Albert Zugsmith which led to him taking over Allied. In 1963 Giroux became chairman of Allied Artists. He was pressident of Allied from 1965 to 1967 and was replaced by Emanuel L. Wolf.
In 1973 Giroux was appointed director of Global Television. He helped establish Compagnie francaise de co production.
Allied Artists took over D. Katlman in 1976. Both companies went out of business.
