Chinese expansionism

Territorial expansion took place during multiple periods of Chinese history, especially under the dynasties of Han, Tang, Yuan, and Qing. According to anthropologist Francis L. K. Hsu, the modern concept and narrative of Chinese expansionism emerged among westerners only after the Chinese Communist Party established the People's Republic of China.
