Central (Spanish pronunciation: [senˈtɾal]) is a department in Paraguay. Its capital is situated in Areguá. With more than 1.8 million inhabitants, it is the most populated of the 17 departments of Paraguay. It is also the smallest department, with a total area of 2,465 square kilometres (952 mi2).
