In October 2024, an economic conflict between Canada and China started. The trade war emerged alongside other ongoing trade wars both countries were involved with, including the China–United States trade war and the Canada–United States trade war.
In January 2026, both countries reached a preliminary agreement to end the economic conflict and stimulate bilateral trade.
