Cable television in Ireland

Cable television (originally known as "piped TV" in Ireland) first started in 1963, when several companies, including the state broadcaster, RTÉ, started relaying the United Kingdom's terrestrial television channels in some cities and larger towns. Today, all Irish cities and many larger towns have cable networks.
