Brandon Allen Backe (/ˈbæki/; born April 5, 1978) is a former pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Houston Astros during his career, and appeared in the 2005 World Series as a member of the Astros.
Originally a position player, Backe was drafted as a second baseman and played in the outfield in the minor leagues prior to converting to pitching.
