Bradford (/ˈbrædfərd/ ), also known as the City of Bradford, is a metropolitan borough with city status in the metropolitan county of West Yorkshire, England. It is located in the north-east of the county, and is bordered by Leeds to the east and Kirklees and Calderdale to the south. Bradford itself is located in the south-east, and the borough extends north-west to include part of the South Pennines and the towns of Ilkley, Shipley, Bingley, and Keighley. In 2024 the borough had an estimated population of 563,605.

The borough was created in 1974 as part of a reform of local government in England. It is one of five metropolitan boroughs within West Yorkshire, which was created at the same time. Local government was shared between the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council and West Yorkshire County Council until 1985, when the county council was abolished and the city council took on its responsibilities. The city council is a member of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, a strategic body for the county.
