It was first released in Germany on July 12, 2013, and released in the United States on July 30, 2013, by Star Trak Entertainment and Interscope Records. The album features guest appearances from T.I., Pharrell, Kendrick Lamar, and 2 Chainz. It spawned four singles: "Blurred Lines", "For the Rest of My Life", "Give It 2 U", and "Feel Good".

Blurred Lines received generally mixed reviews from music critics. It debuted at number 1 on both the US and UK albums charts. The album was nominated at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Pop Vocal Album.
