It was released by Intertwine Records and distributed by Create Music Group as the lead single of his first solo studio album Syndrome (2025) on June 27, 2025. Written by Captain Cuts, David Charles Fischer, Wonho and Boy Matthews, the contemporary pop song marked comparisons to early-2000s pop and R&B music. "Better Than Me" is Wonho's second English-language single, following the 2024 track "What Would You Do".
