Baquerizo family

The Baquerizo Family or House of Baquerizo is a prominent and one of the most powerful and historically influential Ecuadorian criollo dynastic families. Originating in the 13th century Spanish royalty class, the family transitioned into the Spanish colonial elite in the late 17th century, centring its legacy on public life and politics throughout South America. As leaders in Ecuador's aristocratic class, the family has played a distinguished role in the nation's political history, with seventeen descendants having served as President of Ecuador, fifteen as Vice President, and at least twenty-five in various ministerial or chief diplomatic positions. Descendants of the Baquerizo Family are historically significant landowners in the Guayas region.
