Baloch nationalism
Baloch nationalism (Balochi: بلۏچی راجدۏستی, romanized: Balòci ràjdòsti) is a nationalist political movement which asserts that Balochs are a nation and espouses the creation of an independent Balochistan from Iran and Pakistan.
Modern Baloch nationalism originated in late 20th-century British India when the Anjuman-i Ittihad-i Balochan wa Balochistan was founded in Mastung by a number of prominent Baloch nationalist leaders, including Yousaf Aziz Magsi and Abdul Aziz Kurd. They called for an independent state of Balochistan to be carved out of British India. The Anjuman later reorganized as the Kalat State National Party and, after the creation of Pakistan in 1947, continued campaigns for secession of Balochistan. The movement later spread to Iranian Balochistan where Baloch rebels raised an insurgency against Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
