Baki the Grappler (Japanese: グラップラー刃牙, Hepburn: Gurappurā Baki) is a 2001 anime television series adapted from the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki. It covers the first part of the Baki the Grappler manga and is produced by Free-Will and animated at Group TAC. It is the second anime adaptation of the manga, following a 45-minute original video animation (OVA) by Knack Productions that was released in 1994. The series aired from January 8, 2001 to December 24, 2001 on TV Tokyo and ran for 48 episodes across two seasons.
The series was licenced in North America by Funimation Entertainment, who released the series across 12 DVD volumes from June 14, 2005 to February 27, 2007. Their English dub aired on the Funimation Channel beginning on June 19, 2006.
