Babanango Game Reserve, located in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa, is a malaria-free game reserve covering over 20,000 hectares (200 km2) of restored wilderness. Rich in biodiversity, the reserve supports a wide variety of endemic flora and fauna, including the Big Five as well as species like the brown hyena, aardvark and aardwolf. It is one of the largest biodiversity projects in South Africa in recent decades, particularly notable for its extensive rewildling initiatives. The reserve has been recognised by the 30x30 global initiative as a role model of community-led conservation, biodiversity restoration, and economic upliftment in South Africa.
