Axel Ockenfels (born 9 February 1969) is a German economist. Since 2003, he has been professor of economics at the University of Cologne, and in 2023 he was appointed Director at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn. He is also founding director of the Adenauer School of Government (2025).
