Awara (あわら市, Awara-shi) is a city located in Fukui Prefecture, Japan. As of 9 December 2025, the city had an estimated population of 26,024 in 10,571 households and the population density of 222 persons per km2. The total area of the city was 116.98 square kilometres (45.17 sq mi). It is one of the few "hiragana cities" in Japan. Awara is a city famous for its onsen resorts and natural hotwater springs.
