August Borsig

Johann Karl Friedrich August Borsig (German pronunciation: [ˈjoːhan ˈkaʁl ˈfʁiːdʁɪç ˈʔaʊɡʊst ˈbɔʁzɪç]; 23 June 1804 – 6 July 1854) was a German businessman who founded the Borsig-Werke factory in 1837, a railroad and steam locomotive manufacturing company. The first engine was finished in 1840 and at the time of his death in 1854 He was in a monopoly position when Borsig Werke had made 500 locomotives and 67 of the 68 new Prussian locomotives came from Borsig factories.
