Atmanirbhar Bharat

Atmanirbhar Bharat (translation: Self-Reliant India) is a policy framework in India. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi first used the term "self-reliance" in English in 2014 in discussions of national security, poverty alleviation, and the Digital India initiative. The equivalent Hindi phrase, "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (Self-Reliant India), gained prominence during the announcement of India's economic stimulus package in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
