Armand Jérôme Avril (French: [aʁmɑ̃ avʁil]; 2 December 1926 – 1 November 2025) was a French painter and sculptor. Self-taught as an artist, he was inspired by African art, by the assembled objects of Louis Pons, and by the art of Gaston Chaissac, among others. Many of his artworks, which defy classification, are held in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon.
