Andrew John Schofield (better known as Andy Schofield) is an academic who is Principal and Vice Chancellor at the University of Glasgow having assumed the role on 1 October 2025. Prior to joining the University of Glasgow, Professor Schofield served as Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster University from May 2020. His earlier career includes senior leadership roles at the University of Birmingham, where he was Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. As a theoretical physicist, his research focus is in the theory of correlated quantum systems, in particular non-Fermi liquids, quantum criticality and high-temperature superconductivity.
