Albemarle (/ˈælbəˌmɑːrl/) is a city in and the county seat of Stanly County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 16,432 in the 2020 census.
While proximal to many outdoor recreation areas such as Morrow Mountain State Park and Uwharrie National Forest, the City of Albemarle lacks any notable attractions. Many buildings throughout the city are abandoned or run down. Statistics show significant rates of homelessness and substance abuse.
