So far during 2025, the United Kingdom has recorded the highest area of land affected by wildfires since records began in 2012. As of 17 August, over 47,879 ha (118,310 acres; 184.86 sq mi; 478.79 km2) has been burnt, surpassing the previous annual record set in 2019 by more than 19,000 ha (47,000 acres); it has also had the highest number of fires larger than 30 ha (74 acres) at 181, an increase of 30 from the previous record set in 2022. The largest wildfire from the outbreak was Dava wildfire, occurring in the Scottish Highlands.
