On 17 August 2025, at 06:38:52 WITA, a Mww 5.8 earthquake struck the Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi about 12 km (7.5 mi) north northwest of the town of Poso. The earthquake killed two people and injured at least 44 others, collapsed a church, damaged homes and buildings and triggered a minor tsunami in Poso Regency.
