Defending champion Rafael Nadal defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final, 6–3, 6–0 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2019 Canadian Open. It was the first time Nadal successfully defended a hard court title. This was Nadal’s 5th Canadian Open title, after winning in 2005, 2008, 2013, and 2018. This would be the 10th, and last, hard court Masters 1000 title for Nadal (also 3 Indian Wells, 1 Cincinnati, and 1 Madrid Indoors).
