A by-election for the United Kingdom parliamentary constituency of Stoke-on-Trent Central was held on 23 February 2017, following the resignation of incumbent Labour Party MP Tristram Hunt upon his appointment as director of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. It was won by Labour candidate Gareth Snell, who held the seat with a slightly reduced majority.
Along with the 2017 Copeland by-election which took place on the same day, it was the last of ten by-elections to be held in the 2015–2017 parliament; a snap general election was held three months later.
