2016–17 Southern Thailand floods

The 2016–17 Southern Thailand floods were a large scale flood disaster that occurred in southern Thailand from December 2016 to January 2017. It occurred during the country's annual monsoon season and was characterized as having the "worst rainfall in 30 years". The disaster spanned over two consecutive months and covered 13 provinces. This flood event stands out from earlier catastrophes due to the massive, long-term damage it caused. There were an estimated 95 fatalities and 1,815,618 people affected by the disaster.
