A by-election for the United Kingdom parliamentary constituency of Heywood and Middleton was held on 9 October 2014, triggered by the death of incumbent Labour Party MP Jim Dobbin on 6 September. Labour candidate Liz McInnes narrowly held the seat following a recount; the UK Independence Party (UKIP) came second, and increased its vote by 36 percentage points.
It was held on the same day as the 2014 Clacton by-election.
