A by-election was held in the Dáil Éireann constituency of Dublin North in Ireland on Wednesday, 11 March 1998. It followed the resignation of Fianna Fáil TD Ray Burke on 7 October 1997. The by-election was won by Senator Seán Ryan of the Labour Party.
19 candidates contested the by-election, including 9 independents. The winner was declared after 14 counts, with eight candidates getting less than 1% of the first preference vote. On the same day, a by-election took place in Limerick East; both were the final occasions in which Democratic Left contested by-elections.
