The 1945 Detroit Tigers was the team's 45th season since they entered the American League in 1901. The team won the American League pennant on the final day of the season for their fourth pennant in the last eleven years and first since 1940. They then went on to win the 1945 World Series, defeating the Chicago Cubs in seven games. It was the second World Series championship for the Tigers and first in ten years.
Detroit pitcher Hal Newhouser was named the American League's Most Valuable Player (MVP). for the 2nd consecutive season.
