The 1883 South Australian Football Association season was the 7th season of the top-level Australian rules football competition in South Australia.
Norwood went on to record its 6th consecutive premiership.
The Victorian Football Club at its Annual General Meeting held on Friday 16 March 1883 at Scotch Thistle Hotel, North Adelaide, with 40 members present, resolved to change its name to North Adelaide Football Club. This club has no connection to the modern day SANFL North Adelaide Roosters.
